SEB Asset Management lets 1,000 sqm of space in Berlin – Rocket Internet expands its headquarters in the Johannishof building

SEB Asset Management has signed a new lease with Rocket Internet GmbH at Johannisstrasse 20 in Berlin. Rocket Internet, an incubator company, is expanding its existing space at its German headquarters by approximately 1,000 sqm to 9,530 sqm.

Rocket Internet focuses primarily on providing support for internet start-ups, such as eDarling and Zalando, worldwide. The new lease means that the office building, centrally located between the government district and the Hackescher Markt, is now fully let except for a few square meters of space. Angermann and Cushman & Wakefield acted as the agents during negotiations.

The Johannishof building is steeped in history. Constructed as a factory in 1907–1908, it served from 1979 to 1989 as the guesthouse for the Council of Ministers of what was then the government of the German Democratic Republic. SEB Asset Management acquired the seven-storey building in 2001 for the SEB ImmoInvest open-ended real estate fund following extensive renovation and modernisation work.
