The Morningstar Qualitative Rating™ is based on five pillars: People (the fund manager's experience and workload), Parent (investment company), Process (investment process), Performance and Price (TER). Ratings are based on each fund's performance relative to its peers. Morningstar analysts base their ratings on a database, publicly available information and discussions with the fund manager. Morningstar analysts assign a Morningstar Qualitative Rating™ to funds using a five-point scale: Elite (highest possible rating), Superior, Standard, Inferior, Impaired (lowest rating). In contrast to other rating agencies, Morningstar neither demands nor accepts a fee for drawing up a report or assigning a rating.
